Actually, the really stupid thing is not buying the inexpensive part to keep debris out which is a hundred times more common than a bolt falling out. Even with all of the shields/guards I've had rocks stuck in the plastic cover that had they not been in place, would have ruined by belt and my motor. Here's the shorthand version: Pros - Save $100 and have the very rare chance you might see a bolt stuck in there if you happen to open the hood for some random reason before starting the car.
